Thank you for your interest in our pet-friendly, evidence-based training services. We are glad you have contacted us to help you strengthen your relationship with your dog. To ensure you get the most out of our time together, we have put together some general information about our training sessions.
Please be advised that all training sessions must be pre-paid with no exceptions. An appointment date will not be confirmed and held until payment is received. We are happy to accept payment by e-transfer or PayPal, if this is not possible, clients are welcome to mail or drop off a cheque or cash to our office in Cartier.
There is a $50 cancellation fee for all one-hour follow-up training sessions, and $75 for the initial consult, regardless of notice given or circumstances. *If the session is cancelled within 8 hours of the start time, the cancellation fee increases to $75 for one-hour appointments and $90 for 1.5 hour initial consults. **If Jillian arrives at your home for an appointment and no attempts have been made to contact us to cancel or reschedule, then the full appointment fee will be retained. Cancellation fees can not be applied to future services.
This policy has ben put in place because is we have a long list of families waiting for our help and we want to ensure we make the best use of our time. Cancellations mean that we have turned away others who could have used that appointment time. If you must cancel, please provide as much notice as possible so that we can attempt to offer the space to the next person on the list. We thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Our goal with our training sessions is to personalize your program to meet the needs of your dog and your family. Please let us know what specific behaviours you wish to address or work on so we can come prepared and we can make the best use of our time together. If our session is booked close to a meal time for your dog you may wish to reduce your dog’s feeding, or wait until after our appointment to feed your dog his meal. We use treats in our training so we do not want to over-feed your dog.
Please be sure to let Jillian know if your dog has any health issues or food allergies so we can adjust accordingly. We recommend owners come prepared with some of their dog's favourite treats as well. If your dog has complicated or chronic medical issues, we may ask for written consent to speak to your veterinarian to ensure our training protocol fits with your dog’s medical treatment.
Please have a properly fitting buckle collar, head collar, or harness and a non-retractable leash ready for or training appointment. We do not use prong collars, choke collars, shock collars, or any equipment that may cause discomfort, pain, or fear for any animal. All our methods are meant to be motivating and positive for the dog and family, please let us know if there are any concerns with any exercises we recommend, we wish to leave you feeling empowered to work with your dog independently in between our sessions. We will also provide ongoing support by phone or email and welcome any questions about the material or exercises recommended.
